A licensing outfit called MonkeyMedia endowed with a 100 patents created by its founder Eric Bear has sued Apple in the Western District of Texas charging that the Mac OS X and Safari browser infringe three patents collectively known as the Seamless Contraction patent family. The IP covers the summarization and variable display of text and audio/visual content based on the saliency of the context. MoneyMedia claims the Mac operating system's Summary Service feature, its Front Row media center software and the Safari RSS Reader's Article Length slider infringe. It wants the usual injunction and treble damages. Microsoft licensed MonkeyMedia's Seamless Expansion and Relativity Controller patents four years ago. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
